GOING GREEN Airborn Manufacturing Facility - LEED Certified
FIRST CENTRAL TEXAS MANUFACTURING FACILITY AWARDED
PRESTIGIOUS LEED CERTIFICATION
“AirBorn produces integrated technology solutions for high reliability
applications for the military and aerospace markets.”

Employing superior green building practices and paving the way for future
manufacturing facilities throughout the region is AirBorn, Inc., a global
supplier of electronic components. Their new Georgetown facility was just
awarded LEED certification, making it the only one of its kind in Central Texas
and just one of two in the state.

Raymond Construction, Inc. initiated the idea to seek LEED certification on
behalf of AirBorn, submitting the application to the U.S. Green Building
Council (USGBC), as well as constructing the building. With a final
construction budget of $6.3 million for the 58,100 square-foot structure,
collaborative partners included Hendrix Consulting Engineers, Boyer and
Associates and Engineering 360. Moman Architects provided all architectural,
planning and interior design services.

Lighting
-high efficiency lighting to reduce watts/sqft
-multi-level control to meet occupant needs
-switching zoned by space function and use to save energy and meet
occupant needs
-motions sensor control in small areas to reduce lighting waste when no one
is around
-lighting relay panel for control of large spaces for simplified control and
scheduling of auto off

Plumbing
-high efficiency 0.5gal flush urinals for water savings
-motion sensor water closets for water savings
-motion sensor lavatories for water savings

Mechanical
-Energy Model shows 27.1% better than baseline
-high efficiency equipment for energy savings
-dedicated Outside Air Machine for constant high occupant load areas to
control humidity while meeting code
-CO2 sensors for control of Outside Air requirements for variable occupant
load spaces to save energy while meeting code
-bathroom exhaust controlled by motions sensor for energy control
-selected exhaust fans controlled by timers and energy management to save
energy when not in required
-low static duct work design for noise control and energy savings
-DDC controls for monitoring of space conditions and scheduling of AC units
-AC zoned by space function and use to save energy meet occupant needs
